04.04WNBA Prospects: Shannon Bobbitt – Point Guard

Shannon Bobbitt, 5-4, Tennessee
- NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team (2007)
- NCAA Dayton Regional All-Tournament Team (2007)
- Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Junior/Community College Player of the Year (2006)
5-2, 5-4 … Give or take a few inches (for the roster), Bobbitt is still a tiny player but she has game. She has been able to overcome her size deficit at every level from J.C. at Trinity Valley Community College to University of Tennessee and we all know Pat Summit can turn out great point guards.
Bobbitt has the potential to do well in the WNBA. She’s being compared to 2006 Rookie of the Year, Temeka Johnson and not just for her size but her skills as well. Many think she can do the same, especially if she can find a way to defend and get her off-the-hip 3 point shot off during game time.
I expect Bobbitt will go in the first round, as a good point guard is always a valuable asset.
